The Italian Wedding : Venezia Sposa
An Italian wedding has a certain type of heightened emotion and aesthetic to it that is very difficult to put into words and a italian wedding shoot would not be complete without showcasing the most perfect place in Italy : Venezia. Life in the streets of Venice seemed like a scene from a Fellini film when I stepped off the water taxi and I immediately fell in love. It is easy to understand why it is considered the most romantic city in the world.
From the soft blush and creamy beauty of the San Marco Pallazzo to the magical light filtering through the clouds and glistening of the water of the canals ; its essence of glamour, romance and history is just breath taking. It doesn’t matter if you are eloping or having a big wedding, Venezia is the city for people in love.
I specifically chose Maria a wedding dress from Janita Toerien’s Latest Collection to pair with this city, because it felt well suited with its intricate lace details yet simple silhouette. The beautifu scallop lace detail reminded me of the details engraved on the buildings throughout Italy. Of course in respect of the Roman Catholic wedding tradition in Italy; I paired it with a gorgeous cathedral length beaded veil from Ronelda Rhode Bridal.
Being a water baby the waterway lifestyle of Venice spoke to my inner child of fairytales and princess on elaborate boats being rowed in between the magnificent buildings forming the intricate map of canals of Venezia.
“Venice is like eating an entire box of chocolate liqueurs in one go.”
― Truman Capote
